Ramaiya, who navigated Tufail Amin in the just ended Mount Uluguru Rally, told the ‘Daily News’ that hauling his first 12 seeding points, has firmly convinced his permanent in stay in motor rally and promised to prove it the coming season.
“It was my first time in the rally car, I enjoyed it enormously,” said Ramiaya, who has travelled widely with national team as a cricket star. Ramaiya promises to work hard in 2017’s motor rally season so as to establish his name similar to what he did in cricket.
“My ambition is to be a jack of all trades in sports and adept in all of them,” said Ramaiya after the end of podium prize-giving ceremony.
Ramaiya acknowledges that taking one of the three top spots in the next season’s rounds of the National Rally Championship (NRC) series is his ultimate mission, which he says very possible.
Compared to cricket, the sport that shaped his entire career, Ramaiya believes motor rally has a bright future in Tanzania due to its huge audience.
“It is growing up and keep appealing the youth, I am one of them,” he added. His debut in old model Subaru N8 does not seem to be an obstacle to the 25-year Ramaiya, he believes it’s not the car that matters, but driving and navigating skills count most.
“You’ve got to have reliable cars at this level, but driving and navigation skills dictate much terms in the whole of it,” he says. Tufail Amin, a Dar es Salaam-based driver said he was impressed with Ramaiya’s navigation skills despite making a debut into the motor rally.
“I hope to see much improvement in his navigation skill in all eight rounds of NRC next year,” said Tufail.
