The girls displayed their skills in football, sack racing and tug of war in the special sports bonanza aimed at assembling all girls from the all its project clusters. Speaking during a ceremony to congratulate them, the event’s chief guest, Rainer Chale said that 533 girls were registered in 2015 and 380 did examinations.
He said that it was important for Brac to initiate such project to help the marginalised girls who dropped from schools..
The Kirumba Ward executive officer, Mr Wilson Ntahondi said that the Girl Education Challenge project has been very productive in educating and giving them a chance for a self employment.
The Brac Area manager, Ms Shahanaj Aktar said that despite many challenges they Maendeleo Tanzania’s Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) project has provided them all the best in academic and sports in a bid to save girls at-risk of dropping out or who have already dropped out of school.
